Barcelona-born, Berlin-based. I teach Spanish and Catalan the way they are actually lived: through stories, streets, food, and the occasional Gaudí detour.
Hola, I'm Helena.
I was born and raised in Barcelona, between two mother tongues (Spanish and Catalan) and have never quite managed to pick a favourite.
I studied Journalism and Humanities at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, then a Master's in Digital Humanities and another in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language. For years I have written language courses and scripted educational cartoons. Teaching, really, is just storytelling with homework.
My lessons are warm, a little nerdy and very practical. We work on real conversation, grammar that finally makes sense, and the culture that gives every word its flavour: from Mercè Rodoreda to pà amb tomàquet, from Cervantes to a good vermut on the Barceloneta.
